Pozos

Pozos, small and enigmatic town that the mining bonanza of the 19th century reveals, now there are only vestiges left of the emporium that was once but it will continue to be rich in legends, memories and ghosts of the past. Go thru its galleries in which outstanding international artists have exhibit their works in this calmed scene, without forgetting about the experience of this town where the time stopped it's worth the effort to live it in this historical monument. It is said that there are four major historic cities in the state of Guanajuato: The capital city Guanajuato, San Miguel de Allende. Dolores Hidalgo and Mineral de Pozos.

In its day it was a very important city but mostly in the late Twentieth Century Pozos was abandoned -- A ghost town -- without many inhabitants and no industry. In 1982, President Lopez-Portillo declared Mineral de Pozos a National Historic Treasure. Today it is experiencing a renaissance due to artists who are moving to Pozos and tourists who are seeking a different experience.
